Substantial works in London W3
We were asked by Francis Construction to manufacture and install a complex cut string staircase, requiring some novel design features, in London W3. This was particularly so as the oak stair had a 3.5 metre half landing, which required a bridge support of laminated birch ply bearers, to ensure the structure was solid with no "bounce".
We are quite used to manufacturing curved staircases, manufactured around formers, but this gave an extra dimension to the design integrity.
The client was very particular about the spindle style and many different ones were presented before one was found to match the required detail, to compliment the overall interior. The curved handrails were from 100m square oak, and were completely manufactured by our joinery technicians.
