Contemporary Mews Houses in Islington

This project was the work of David Gibson Architects and is so much in keeping with their hugely creative designs and specialist skills of linking historical to modern detail www.dgibarch.co.uk

The Mews is quietly enclosed within the walls of what used to be a factory. Contemporary materials were used to produce a facade of glass projecting bay windows, with screened sunken roof terraces. Natural light is a key feature with the skilled use of roof lights, pavement lights and sun pipes. Sliding folding doors also allow clear passage of light.

Each house incorporates an interior centred on a helical staircase, which links the free flowing spaces. Under ones feet the flooring is a combination of walnut and limestone.
